Back and Forth

March 10, 2014

Everyday until this coming Thursday, I travel to the BMT clinic for my check up and IVs. After they check my vitals and draw blood, I receive fluids at a “station” in front of a picture window on the tenth floor of “The Tower,” along with the 15-25 patients also going through this procedure.

The results of my blood labs will determine what I need for that day.  It may be blood products, or potassium etc.  I am seen by either a Dr. or a “Mid-Level” nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant.  They are all extremely nice and very capable in this specialty area of medicine and treatment.  For this I am grateful.

Please pray for Bryant, a 28 year old fellow patient who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia.  This, after he survived leukemia and treatment as a 2 year old.  His father reached out to me for prayer and ministry for his son.  They have had a long battle.

There are needy people all around us.

“Jesus, fill us with your love that we might be sensitive to the hurting people all around us.  Heal, restore, save, and strengthen others through our reaching out.  In Your mighty name we pray.  Amen.”

Dean, your  post reminded me so much of the time I spent in hospital in 74, so many others with needs that I could reach out to, I remember very many of them to this day. I exercise with an elder lady at the hospital as my heart rehab ongoing, got to talking one day, she is neighbors and friends to the mother of one of the night nurses from back then.  small world.

I wrote a letter to the editor a few weeks ago, I got a mysterious phone call from a lady who said she remembered me from the hospital and wanted to congratulate me on the letter, She had just left a very warm message, I called back and here it was Bob Houck/ Sue’s mother now in her nineties, We had a nice chat.

The other day at a funeral visitation, I had a man I know from the astronomy club, tell me he was one of my room mates back then.

Knowing you and your love for people, you will have a strong influence on others there during your healing.

    Love to you Dean, always

    Bob

Thanks, Bob. Also, for the gift. We will apply it to fuel costs. We both have a perspective on giving and receiving care, don’t we.

You are a good friend. We must do Jac n Dos together again.

Dean, I am glad you are doing so well with the treatments and I have prayed for Gods intervention during this time. I guess it is extremely difficult to undergo all of this. Your in my thoughts. Boyd Collins

All these new opportunities to minister to others-in prayer. Maybe you will be able to get through your “list” each night, but don’t count on it as that “list” will continue to grow! And so we pray and thanks for sharing Bryant’s name. He has been added to my “list”, right next to yours!
