Joshua 10

Joshua asked the Lord to hold the sun to give extended daylight hours for a battle advantage. God heard and complied.

Prayer is talking to God. The Lord actually wants to hear our voices NONSTOP. (Pray continually) It’s a lifestyle full of blessing.

When we ask in His name with faith, miracles will happen.

Dr. Goldklang, my cancer doctor, told me yesterday that my indicators were moving in a healthier direction.

I live for the Lord and my family.

You, too, are my family.

My son’s golden doodle, Bella, passed from this life yesterday. It was difficult for our family members who knew and loved this furry, golden friend. I copied the following writing to give some perspective on the death of our beloved pets.

Although we cannot definitively say “all dogs go to heaven” based on biblical teaching, we can affirm several important truths:

1. God values and cares for all His creation, including animals.
2. God’s ultimate plan involves the renewal of all creation (Romans 8:19-22).
3. The love we feel for our pets is real and valuable, reflecting God’s own love.

While “all dogs go to heaven” is not a biblical concept, we can trust in God’s goodness and His care for all His creatures. As we comfort those grieving the loss of a pet, let us point them to the God who knows when even a sparrow falls, and whose love encompasses all of creation. Let us encourage them to entrust their beloved companions to the merciful care of our Creator, confident in His wisdom and love.

Rest in peace, Bella Demos. You were a good friend and companion.***6

I had a PET scan last week and my oncologist gave me the results today. No cancer showed up. That makes 12 years that I have been in remission, thanks to Jesus and what the medical community has done. I believe God gives them insights into how to help people.

The scan showed no myeloma concerns in my bones. The Dr. says I’m in a biochemical remission. Some of my indicator numbers are up. (My igg and light chains for you medical people) He is consulting with my transplant Dr. who is an expert on blood cancer.

Anyway, Patty and I are very pleased to get this result. Secondary cancer can happen. It hasn’t!, praise the Lord.

To date, I have taken 2.75 million dollars worth of Revlimid. That’s retail. I haven’t had to pay a dollar. They may switch me to another medication. I’ll let you all know. Thanks for taking an interest in me. It means alot. I live for Jesus, my wife, my kids. my grandkids … that’s about it. I have very little energy to do much. I pray a lot. It’s about all I can do, and it’s the BEST thing I can do. Please always give me your prayer requests. We need each other.

Hosea [The Message]

What is the main message of Hosea?

Hosea is a prophet whom God uses to portray a message of repentance to God’s people. Through Hosea’s marriage to Gomer, God shows his great love for his people, comparing himself to a husband whose wife has committed adultery, using this image as a metaphor for the covenant between God and Israel.

I am personally so grateful to God for His Faithfulness to me through my gallbladder surgery and recovery. I’m still very weak and dizzy when I walk around the house. This procedure has taken alot out of me. Thankfully, my WONDERFULWIFE has taken EXCELLENT CARE of me through it all.

My oncologist noticed a rise in some of my numbers which concerned him. He always refers me to Dr. Solomon who conducted my stem cell transplant. He’s an authority on blood diseases. He ran his own series of tests and concluded that my remission is holding. The bone marrow biopsy (I’ve had 12 of them) showed NO myeloma cells and another test produced NO myeloma cells. He said keep doing what I’m doing and begin exercising MORE to get better energy. This news was very good to our ears.

The recent events in Israel tell us that the Lord’s Coming is closer than ever. It’s time to round up and restore the wayward sheep that belong in Christ’s fold. Go out into the “highways and hedges” and compel them to come in.

I mistakenly posted one of my daily devotionals on my personal health blog. Sorry. I have been posting a daily devotional for over eight years at http://www.tcsdevos.org I follow a daily Bible reading and post some helpful thoughts for those who have been following it.

My health is holding somewhat steady. The biggest problem is the fatigue I have from the disease. I can’t put in a good days work any more, but I can still love God and people. Prayer has become my major “workload.”

Num. 24, 25 [The Message]

The Hebrew men were allured into a sex orgy by the Moabite women. God’s wrath was kindled by their forsaking of His standards of moral purity. He sent a plague among them and demanded that the leaders involved be hanged to death. The plague was finally stopped by the act of Phinehas, the son of a priest, who drove a spear through the bodies of two immoral guilty participants. His deed stopped the plague which had already killed 24,000.

The influence of moral impurity must be mortified. In the way Phinehas put a death strike through the flesh of a moral downfall, so must we deal mercilessly with the sinful nature which only leads to our spiritual decay. Kill it or it will kill you.

Gratefully, the blood of Christ cleanses us from all unrighteousness.

Okay. Patty and I saw my oncologist, Dr. Goldklang, today. He said the rise in my kappa light-chain number is a warning that myelome is trying to rev up. So, he is sending me back to my stem-cell transplant Dr. for consultation and testing. Dr. G. wants me to have a petscan and possibly a bone-marrow biopsy to clarify what my plasma cells are doing.

So, we wait for an appointment with Dr. Scott Solomon. I am blessed to be close to the Blood and Marrow Transplant Center at Northside Hospital and their physicians who have one of the world’s best survival rates for transplants. Also possible is that Revlimid, the medicine I’ve been taking since 2012, may be losing its effectiveness. In that case, there are other approved medicines to replace it to maintain my remission.

I am not fearful. “The Lord is my Shepherd and I lack NOTHING.”

Thanks for your prayers. I just want to be faithful and be used of God.

Also, Patty wants me to stay around.

My oncologist, Dr.. Gerald Goldklang, has my blood drawn beforehand and sent to the lab so he can look at my results when he sees me. Today is the day I see him. I’m taking Patty because one category of my numbers is up. Really up. It could mean a myeloma relapse. I will give a report after we talk.

I have noticed a decline in the way I feel recently. One possibility is that the medicine I have been taking since November of 2012 is starting to lose its effectiveness. The good news is that the FDA has approved several treatment drugs that can take the baton hand-off from Revlimid. So, we shall see what he says.

My life is fully dedicated to prayer, serving the ones I love, and just trying to give support and love to those who need it … family, neighbors, acquaintances, anybody I come in contact with. Any strength God gives me is applied in that way.

As David said, “I will fear NO EVIL; for Thou art with me.”
